God wants us to "Let Go"

I've been meaning to do a blog for quite sometime now and just could not get the inspiration to write. Today however, while looking at television, I came across the ending of this music video by Dewayne Woods and the words of "Let Go" spoke directly to me. The tears were just flowing from my eyes as I connected with this song. So I immediately went online to find this song which touched me so immensely and I want to share it with you. The message ? Let Go and Let God!!!! "Let Go" by Dewayne Woods Verse 1 I couldn't seem to fall asleep There was so much on my mind Searching for that peace But the peace I could not find So then I knew how to pray Praying helped me please Then He said you don't have to cry Cause I'll supply all your needs Chorus As sooon as I stop worrying Worrying how the story ends I'll let go and I let God Let God have His way That's when things start happening I'll stop looking at back then I let go and I'll let ...

Diana The Diva

Image
This blog is surely overdue but listening to some of Diana Ross' music this morning prompted me to still speak about my experience seeing her at the Plymouth "Jazz" Festival in Tobago last year. Now the funny thing is, Diana Ross was not the one I was really anticipating seeing. It was Heather Headley. Our own Trini-born divette (my word for a small diva) whose career I began following since she acted as Nala in The Lion King on Broadway and then Aida, in the musical of the same name, for which she won a Toni award. Heather's performance would have been her first on home soil since leaving Trinidad at the age of 15 in 1989. So, as an aspiring singer and actor myself, I was excited to see her - a fellowman (or woman for the politically correct) who is enjoying some measure of recognition in the International arena. But there is a saying that "cockroach should not get in fowl business". Not that I am calling Heather a cockroach, but in terms of Di...
Can someone please tell me why I can't find a reliable plumber to fix my kitchen tap ? It just refuses to shut off so since then there has been a constant flow of the precious H2O going down the drain. It was on Monday last that I thumbed through the yellow pages confident that I could get a plumber to attend to my needs immediately. The first thing I noticed was that most of the companies offering domestic plumbing services were based outside of San Fernando. Yaaaay!!!!!!! Good for me !!!! Ok. My eyes fell upon a company, which from the address in the phone book, was located about five minutes driving distance away from where I live. Good ! I dialled the number and asked the pleasant female voice on the other end if they do home visits. I breathed a sigh of relief when she replied in the affirmative. I told her what the problem was and she promised to have a plumber drop by soon. I told her to contact me on my mobile phone when the plumber was ready to visit since I may...

Previous blog - Letting Go Of The Past

I DID one of the hardest things I ever did in my life in December (2005). I buried my paternal grandmother. Now it wasn't hard for all the obvious reasons. We had to mend some fences before she died. She became seriously ill sometime in September while I was vacationing in New York. I didn't think much of it. Actually, I did not even want to know about it. I tried to distance myself from it. You see, I hadn't spoken to my grandmother in maybe two years. Sounds horrible right ? Well I felt I was justified in doing so. The story is, an incident occured in which I believed she was facilitating my father (her son) in continuing an extra-marital affair. It hurt me that someone I loved and admired and respected would have done that to my mother. I held on to that for two years until October 2005 when she was admitted to the hospital. I remember going to see her the first time and remarking to myself how thin she had gotten. I was almost afraid and embarrassed to make ...

Previous blog - Money Grabbers - April 2007

Money grabbers come in many different forms. Yes believe me they do. For example, that St Michael's Gym near Presentation College in San Fernando is one of them. Because i've always have an on and off battle with my weight, I've had cause from time to time to avail myself of their services. My relationship with them started about roughly five years ago and to my chagrin, to get to the crux of what this blog is about, nothing has changed. Well not for the better at least. The price of membership for the month went up from $175 to $200. Now I know many of you, especially those living in the West end of Trinidad, might be saying "but thats cheap". Yeah but not for my pocket. Anyway, the price increase is one thing, but has the overall physical value of the facility improved ? No !!! Aesthetically, the place is as dreary as a psychologist's office ( not that i've been to any) which makes it quite uninteresting to work out. Then its the equipment. Some...
